Hygienist Leith Edinburgh
A good daily hygiene routine ensures removal of daily build up of dental plaque, but regular hygienist appointments are essential to remove the plaque and the tartar from those harder to clean areas and prevent caries and gum disease.
During your tooth cleaning at KF Dental, Leith Edinburgh our hygienist will professionally remove the hard deposits and the plaque form your teeth a procedure which is called scaling and polish. You will be given an individual Diet Advice and an Oral Hygiene Programme and our hygienist will recommend suitable products and techniques to maintain good oral health.
A tailor made treatment plan will be made for you to suit your needs. This can be anything from a simple scaling and polish with our Hygienist to more advanced periodontal treatment with our periodontist. Once your treatment is complete a regular maintenance plan will be advised.
Regular visits with the hygienist can improve and maintain the health of the gums preventing more complex periodontal disease that could lead to bone loss, gum recession and potential loss of your teeth.

Your daily dental hygiene
Brush your teeth using a Fluoride toothpaste twice a day concentrating on all areas of your teeth (top, inside and outside). Avoid vigorous toothbrushing that can cause tooth surface loss, gum recession and sensitivity. An electric toothbrush can be used for easier plaque removal.
Flossing and interdental brushes help to remove the bacteria between your teeth
A fluoride mouthwash can be beneficial for adults and children over six years old with sensitivity, exposed roots, history of dental caries, dry mouth and during the orthodontic treatment.
A tongue scrapper removes the bacteria from the tongue.
